In many cultures all over the world, there has been an increasing popularity in the ancient belief of the hamsa hand that was known to ward off negativity which was often used as a symbol of protection. Also known as the Hand of Fatima, Hand of Venus, Hand of Mary or the Hand of God has appeared countless times throughout history as a symbol of protection when the fingers spread apart, or a symbol of 'Good Luck' when the fingers are closed together.

During the Byzantine period, artists would depict God's hand reaching up from above to touch and lead the people out of struggle, and into brighter days thus giving us a sense of faith and hope again through the struggles that we must experience in life to grow.
