"I believe that every story has a dark side, that everyone has been at some point of their lives in the shadows. Life is no different for me...

One of my favourite colours is black, and like some, i too have horrible fears of my own; fear of the unknown, which made me a pessimistic person, a person filled with vengeance and hate...

Before stepping out into the world, i had this notion that life is filled with darkness; that it is a mean, cruel and nasty world out there; a world filled with deceit, hatred and envy. I used to think that humans were cruel, scary and dangerous; that our lives is a battle for survival against one another. How did i get to this? Was it from the news, the stories people told or the movies that we watched? Only God knows, but to me, survival meant blending into society; adopting that same darkness in order to stay alive...

I tried to toughen up myself whenever i'm out from my home; to be a harder person with a fierce and fearless look so that i won't get bullied by others. In time, this became a habit that i couldn't control. In school, i had a horrible temper. Each time i had a challenge, faced social injustice or came face to face with complicated situations in life, my first choice was to always choose darkness. I would do the unthinkable to solve my problems. It became a way of getting things done for me. I was rude, cruel and ruthless, just like the kind of people that i grew to hate...

Those years were tough, because to me, it was probably my lowest period so far; a point in time where i didn't see the light. However as time went by, i started to realise that this wasn't me; that i was more than that. I started to ask myself, why should i blend it when i was made to standout? Why should i be like all those people that the media uses to sell a story? Is this really how life is?

The moment i started to question reality was the moment my life changed. I started to see that our world isn't as dark as it seems. Yes, there are and always will be people that darkens society, people that tries to change our perspective; but mother nature is beautiful; its so colourful and positive; it's bursting with energy and love. With all this beauty surrounding us, i thought to myself, why should we be afraid of the dark? Why should we let this stop us from being who we are? It is from that moment on that i started to appreciate the little things in life; realizing that without the presence of the dark, light becomes meaningless...

There are always 2 sides to every story; a balance that must exist. We each have our own set of darkness to discover; and in that journey of discovery, we learn to see the beauty in everything; love, happiness, laughter; all the things that makes life meaningful...

Each and everyone of us has a story to tell, be it through light or dark; good or bad. But our stories are not there to inspire others; they are meant to help us learn from our past in order to grow towards a better future. They are meant to help us become the person we were ultimately meant to be...

Remember that life is not about winning or losing; life is about experiencing the many wonders of the world. The ups and downs, the obstacles and the glories that comes with it. Be brave, live fearlessly, live happily, because at the end of the day, the one true meaning of life is not the outcome, it's the memories that were created along the way. So let's get out there and make ours one worth living for..."
