You often find it hard to empathise with others as your mind is constantly filled with thoughts about survival. You often worry about your affairs, wondering if there will be enough to go round the table. Your deepest fear is that you fail your family and those that you love, thus causing you to be overwhelmed by the burden you carry.

Think of chakras as levels of consciousness. If we are operating from the root chakra only, our own survival is the only thing that matters; nothing else. What does it look like in life? Basically it's whenever we find ourselves fighting with someone else, or if your life is in danger, your mind automatically shifts into a mode where its all about your survival instincts...

To come out of it is to have the feeling of knowing that you are safe, secured and abundant with the resources and wonders of life. To operate from a state of 'Courage' rather than 'Fear', we shift the paradigm of our lives dramatically. So just be aware of your state and don't linger in that state too much. Once the danger has passed, move out of it. Or if you find yourself in a tough situation, just imagine yourself giving advice to someone in a similar position. In fact, if you could find someone to help in a similar position, it would do wonders for you. By doing this, you remove yourself from the equation in order to think from a higher perspective.

On a final note, the root chakra is also necessary to keep us grounded and connected to Mother Earth. It is the fire that drives us out of difficult situations; keeping us sharp and alive when it's open.
