Story #014

"Our story is similar to many others, a simple and common relationship that started from our friendship. In the beginning, things felt a little awkward as we were used to being close friends; however it wasn't long before we grew into the relationship; getting used to one another...

I think our relationship is unique because we seem to have gotten our roles wrong. In a world filled with 'stereotypes' from the media, a woman is supposed to be clingy and possessive, filled with jealousy and always the first to apologize. However this isn't the case in our relationship. For some weird reason i'm never jealous nor possessive over him which sometimes lead to me questioning my own love for him...

As i pondered more on this, what i've found is that too often we get lost in the world of social media which leads to us believing that a girl or a guy should act in a certain way; that people should act in a certain way...

Misleading concepts like these can sometimes be dangerous, leading us to doubt ourselves and others; raising our expectations based on false truths; causing unnecessary problems to ourselves....

Being with one another for quite some time has thought us to understand each other a little more. Communicating and working our problems out has helped us become better people, better partners and better lovers. Though we seldom argue these days, i guess it's only because we've come to accept one another for who we are rather than what society thinks we should be.

We don't do grand celebrations. Usually to celebrate an occasion, we head out for a simple meal, gift each other a simple present and that's it; because to us, this is enough; being together is more than enough...

Though our personalities are worlds apart, we somehow seem to work well together; we somehow fit into one another's life perfectly. This is why we chose the two shimmering spheres to be in one piece together; because it represents us, and our love together, where two hearts become one...

My message to all of you is that lose yourself in the little things. A perfect relationship does not need to be grand or lavish; it just needs to be filled with love; like the way he wakes up early everyday so that he could wait in college the whole day till i'm done, just to give me a lift home after classes. Though he is never bored of it, i sometimes feel bored for him; (hahahaha) however, if you were to ask me what is the one thing that i will cherish the most, it would be this moment right here...

There are tons of unforgettable memories in our relationship however i guess what has gotten us this far is our ability to understand each other a little deeper, to forgive one another when the time calls for it, and above all, to be patient in letting the relationship grow. Nothing big; just the simple stuff. I guess this is our happily ever after. What's yours?"
